National Ride2School day which will be held on Wednesday 17 March aims to raise awareness of the health, economic and environmental reasons for encouraging children and their families to have an active commute to school. In 2009 over 1000 schools across the state encouraged their students to walk or ride to school, making the event Australia’s largest active event for school students.
To make National Ride2School Day 2010 a success we need your support! Bicycle NSW have promotional material available that you can use to encourage your school to take part. Schools wanting to host an event can order a promotional kit which includes posters, flyers and stickers. Also, exclusive to NSW schools, every school ordering a kit will receive up to 50 free reflective slap bands, courtesy of NSW sponsor monkeysee. The reflective bands are fun and bright and an excellent accessory that can be attached to the wrist, arm, ankle, bike or bag to increase visibility. Schools can order a kit by visiting www.bicyclensw.org.au
It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.
1) If you would like a promotional pack (and up to 50 free reflective slap bands) to encourage your school to register please email James Adams at Bicycle NSW with your name and postal address to

.
2) Lane Cove Council can provide FREE Lane Cove Cycle Maps to those schools interested in holding an event. Simply reply to this email and let me know how many students will be requiring maps.
3) See attached Bicycle Safety Checklist, thanks to Renegade Cycles, Lane Cove. It’s a really simple checklist that most parents should be able to undertake. It won’t identify all safety issues but it will catch a lot of them. *Please note there are 4 checklists per page. Renegade Cycles would be happy to offer further and more involved free safety assessments for bicycles brought into the shop. There is no need to make an appointment. Simply drop into their shop which is located in The Village, 43-45 Burns Bay Road.
