Lane Cove Library News Update

A note from Jane Gornall, Executive Manager, Human Services, Lane Cove Council.


The Library (both 139A and 164 Longueville Road) has now closed in preparation for moving into the first part of the Library extension. The Library will be closed until later in February.

Book chutes are available at Greenwich Library.

The new book chutes are available from Library Walk - in the Market Square Development.


Borrowers can still check their loans and renew their items via the web. Access is via the Council webpage; choose Living in the Area and then Library and then online catalogue.


There will be:

increased opening hours at Greenwich Library.  Greenwich Library is at 48 Greenwich Road, Greenwich. The phone number is 9436 2776.


When the Library reopens - all of the public areas of the Library will be together in Library Walk.

Free Wi Fi is back in the Plaza

Lane Cove Alive is pleased to announce that SavvyConnect Free Wi Fi has replaced the previous service.  We apologise for the inconvenience of not having the Wi Fi service available over the past months.

You will need to register once to use the new service.

Find the monitor icon on the bottom right of your laptop screen and click to find Wi Fi services in the Plaza.

Locate the SavvyConnect unsecured item, highlight and click connect.

You will be prompted to register.

Following registration you will be able to connect to the internet.  Please be aware that this is a monitored site so inappropriate use will be suspended.

Further sites in Longueville Rd and possibly in the Village Arcade will be added later.

New Mayor and Deputy Elected

Councillor Win Gaffney was elected as Mayor of Lane Cove for 2009/10 on 21 September 2009. Councillor Gaffney represents West Ward and has been a councillor for 5.5 years.

Councillor Pam Palmer was elected Deputy Mayor for 2009/10. Councillor Palmer has been on Council for 1 year and represents East Ward.
